2016: Jeep is the leading SUV brand in Brazil

The Jeep® closed 2016 with a historic result in Brazil. For the first time in this century, it reached the leadership of the segment of SUVs, with 59,055 registered units, a 20% participation in the category. The turnaround on the former leader only came in December, thanks to the impressive result of the recently launched Jeep Compass with 3,708 units - absolute record for the mid-sized SUV segment.

"It's a tremendous satisfaction to finish the year in the leading SUV sales in Brazil, two years ahead of our global goal," says Sérgio Ferreira, Jeep director for Latin America. "This shows not only that the Renegade and Compass duo were very well received, but also that the Jeep spirit positively affected Brazilian consumers."

Compass's addition to the already consolidated Renegade, as well as imported Jeep (Cherokee, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee), led the brand to ship 7,765 units in December, with a 25% share of the category, a record in its trajectory in Brazil . As a result, Jeep was the fastest growing brand in relation to 2015 - 41.3%. In fact, it was one of only two that grew compared to the previous year, a feat in both a year in which the national market plummeted 20.2%. Jeep's share of the general market rose from 3% to 3.9%, placing the brand in the 10th place in the brand ranking.

The Jeep Renegade performed well in its first full year of sales. There were 51,574 registered units, which placed the model in 10th place in the ranking of passenger cars, and in 2nd place among all SUVs for sale in the country. Compared to 2015, its sales increased by 31.6%. The Jeep Compass, with 6,560 units in just two months, exceeded initial expectations, which forecast monthly sales in the home between 2,000 and 2,500 units. In December, it was the country's 15th best-selling passenger car, impressive for a model of its price range of $ 100,000 to $ 150,000, in which Compass reigns supreme.
